More than the Kiwi land
the auckland university (au) is a leading university of new zealand imparting education in disciplines such as engineering, commerce, business and information management, planning, science and law. the university is drawing students from across the globe and is further interested in opening its education sector to its full potential. imtek consultants, the authorised consultants of the university have recently entered into a collaboration with the three icon tech solutions ltd, an iec group venture, to provide counselling and to facilitate the admission of the students interested in studying at the au.
major (retd) rakesh sharma, imtek said: ‘‘imtek consultants will coordinate admission to the au, new zealand through three icon in india. last year, 562 indian students were admitted to the au. we expect to cross 1,000 students this year.’’ all a student has to do is to approach three icon office where a list of all the courses is available. he or she is required to fill a pre-assessment form. the form can be filled online as well. after the pre-approval by the university the three icon centre would get in touch with the student and the student would be asked to furnish all the necessary documents. ‘‘the entire procedure will take about four to six weeks. the decision to admit a student rests entirely on the university,’’ said sharma. students will not be charged anything for the admission services. sharma said: ‘‘on admission a student must decide whether he or she wants to get a visa through us. if the student approaches us, he will have to pay a fee of us $ 250, which includes the visa and the post-landing services including pick up from the airport, accommodation according to his or her preference, opening of a bank account and tax registration. ‘’ according to sharma the courses in management, computer science and law are popular at the university. a unique feature of the university is that it is offering conjoint degrees in some specific courses. in a conjoint degree one can pursue five years of study in two disciplines and acquire two degrees, instead of studying three plus three years. this provides a student wider base of knowledge, an option to do a major in a subject complementary to the other field of study. sharma said: ‘‘a conjoint degree increases the employability of a student. the au degrees are recognised worldwide which gives its students an opportunity to get employed in the us, uk and australia.’’ new zealand offers a free and comfortable life. students are legally allowed to work on a part-time basis - 15 hours per week. the society is open to people migrating to the country after the completion of their studies. they admits students in january and july.
